The MSc programme in Financial Mathematics (MAFM) is one of the chosen programs to receive Targeted Taught Programmes Fellowships by the University Grants Committee (UGC) in the 2021/22 academic year, the second cohort of the scheme, with 10 places allocated for application.
The fellowships would be distributed to students to subsidise their tuition fees subject to a cap of HK$120,000 per student per programme irrespective of the mode of study and study period. It is firmly believed that the fellowship will create a great opportunity for local meritorious students to pursue further studies in the targeted priority areas and be beneficial to the long-term strategic development of Hong Kong.
Assessment Criteria
- applications are open to local students only; both full-time and part-time students are eligible;
- the award of the fellowships will be based on merits taking into account the students' academic achievements, professional qualifications, relevant working experience and achievements in other areas as well as the proposals submitted by the students; and
- to avoid double subsidy, applications from students who are receiving other forms of government scholarship (except student financial assistance) for pursuing the same programme will not be considered.
Application Arrangements
Students are required to first obtain an offer from the programme before applying for the fellowship. Admission application for the program is through the HKUST Online Admission System (OAS).
Upon offer acceptance, applicants must submit a personal statement on how to contribute to the following areas after completing the program:
- Advancing Emerging Research and Innovation Important to Hong Kong (e.g., FinTech, Big Data, AI/Robotics, Advanced Fabrication/Precision Engineering).
- Enhancing Hong Kong’s Strategic Position as a Regional and International Business Centre (e.g., Greater Bay Area, Belt, and Road).
You may also provide other supporting documents to show your achievements. An interview will be arranged after you submit the fellowship application package.
Intersted applicants must submit the application package via email to Dr. Leanne ZHONG (malzhong@ust.hk) on or before 10 Jan, 2021 (Round 1) and 15 Mar, 2021 (round 2).
