Dear Incoming Class of MAFM Students,

Welcome to HKUST! Let me take this opportunity to congratulate and graciously welcome you to this top institution, the home of world class professors and cutting-edge research. In our program, you will gain access to up-to-date education and industrial leaders alike. Many opportunities await, albeit more so for the more proactive and passionate students. I would like to remind you that academics are a key part of coming to HKUST, and are not to be taken lightly. A degree at this university is greatly respected not only locally, but also internationally. However, it is also important to remember that this program is a platform for you to build your own projects, explore your own ideas, and, as it is often said, chase your own dreams. Naturally, we will play our part in supporting such endeavors, but ultimately it will be up to you, and how much you are driven to want to make a difference. Many students will graduate from this institution, but how many have more than a degree to show for it? Will you strive to do something big and make a difference in the world? Or will this be a missed opportunity?
